ESPCistern: ESP32-C3 WiFi cistern monitor using MS5837 depth and BME280 air reference
Battery powered Wi-Fi cistern level monitor using an ESP32-C3, one submerged MS5837 for water pressure and one external BME280 for atmospheric reference. The MS5837 has a fixed I²C address of 0x76, and the BME280 is set to 0x77 by tying SDO to 3V3, so there is no address conflict. The electronics stay dry on the top side of a pass-through PCB and the MS5837 on the bottom faces the water. The board is bonded through a single hole so the module remains outside and easy to service. USB-C is available for programming, charging and serial logs.
Installation:
Drill one hole, insert and bond the PCB, allow curing, leak test and calibrate at one or two known heights.
Scope and growth:
This is a prototype, simple and testable. It is ready for later additions like a basic web setup page, MQTT or HTTP integration and alerts.
