ESP32 based Lora Ebyte E22-400T22S transmitter
This project focuses on replacing the traditional wired control system for surveillance camera tilt motion with a reliable long-range wireless solution. The motivation stemmed from challenges in wired setups, including distance limitations, frequent weather-related failures, and costly repairs.
To achieve this, I designed a custom wireless remote control system using the LoRa-based Ebyte E22-400T22S module, operating at 433 MHz. This module offers an open-area communication range of up to 5 km, exceeding my operational requirement of 1 km, ensuring robust and interference-resistant performance.
The control workflow integrates a mobile application to send commands via Wi-Fi to an ESP32-S3 microcontroller. The transmitter module then forwards these commands over LoRa to a receiver unit located at the surveillance camera station. The receiver processes the data and drives the tilt motor to precise preset positions, enabling smooth and accurate motion control.
The receiver module is equipped with four Omron relays, providing flexible control for additional peripherals if needed. The entire hardware was designed and fabricated on a custom PCB, which I also shared on PCBWay for open access and collaboration.
This design not only improves reliability and reduces maintenance costs but also expands control capabilities over long distances with minimal infrastructure requirements.
