AGH Solar Boat - two years of work, passion and dreams of students from AGH university of Science and Technology in Cracow. We started our project in November 2015, full of ideas and willingness to create a boat which would bring a revolution to marine transportation. Solar-powered, environment-friendly and innovative. We set our goal to take a part in international competition of solar boats - Monaco Solar & Electric Boat Challenge.It was a hard time however it was definitely a time of gaining an amazing experience in engineering design, developing composite materials, electronics, programming, marketing and the most important - to manage a project, which gathered 46 devoted people.We did it!“Baśka” is 6 metres long, made of carbon fibre, fully powered by solar energy. For over a year members of our project have been spending long hours in workshop and shipyard where we manufactured different elements of our boat. It is powered with 1000 Watt PV panels and equipped with electric system all designed, prepared and programmed by electrical team.We have presented our boat in June during the first official water launch at Wawel bank of the Vistula in front of administration of academy and partners of our project.With our boat, “Baska” we were the only representatives of Poland during competitions in Yacht Club de Monaco in July 2017, where in general classification we reached fifth place.Today we are taking one step further. We want to achieve more. Being full of experience which we have collected for the previous two years, we want to make our boat better and reach the top of the podium.We are aware of our goal’s complexity. It will definitely not be an easy task since we are reaching for more, however the same drive that pushed us to create this amazing boat is pushing us now towards striving for perfection.TECHNICAL DETAILS This year we are focusing on modularity, electric systems are divided into 4 modules serving different functions on the boat, communicating with themselves over CAN bus.Every module has dedicated PCB with STM32 microcontroller as MCU. Central boardCentral board (hereafter referred to as “CB”) is main control board used in boat. All remaining boards are controlled centrally via a master module (CB). Steering algorithm is implemented to improve boat’s stability and maneuverability. Algorithm uses sensors’ readings to calculate optimal position and throttle. CB consists of following components:EEPROMCAN transceiverWater pump (including sensors and control circuit)User control deviceIMU (MPU9250)Xbee, LoRaCB uses STM32F446RE. Data and signals needed for algorithm calculation are provided using CAN transceiver.XBee module enables communication between boat and team located ashore. LoRa is Xbee’s alternative which can be used interchangeably. Configuration data will be stored in EEPROM. There is also sensor which detects if water gets into boat’s hull and activates water pump. It prevents from damaging electrical installation. Pilot can easily adjust throttle using potentiometer. Joystick is attached to handlebar and can be used for determining hydrofoils’ inclination. Display BoardThe main task of this board, as the name suggests, is communication with two graphic LCDs with resolution 320x240 pixels. These displays are FSTN (Film Super Twisted Nematic) type that uses layer of delay of STN LCD’s color compensation. Information transmited to them are determined by MCU – STM32F429ZIT6. Communication occurs by FSMC (flexible static memory controller), which characterized by i.a. high speed of transmission. The next component which is placed on our board is GPS module. Mentioned module allows tracking current position of solar boat. We can store the data acquired from this module on external FLASH memory, like SD card (which is integral part of display board). CAN interface is used for general communication purposes. 6 RGB diodes act as a display panel, which one ultimately will be placed at the front of the boat’s panel. 4-switch keypad is used for launching particular boat’s systems. Moreover, board is equipped with programmer (Mini USB). The whole display board system is powered by 12V. Buck converters lower the voltage to 5V and 3V3 (which is necessary for supplying individual components associated with display board ). Front&Back board Front&Back Board (FBB) utilizes STM32 Nucleo F446re microcontroller. Similarly to CB, uses the same programmer’s port (Mini USB). Described board measures current flowing through water pump. FBB communicates with other boards through CAN transceiver. One of the most crucial tasks of the following board is constantly monitoring BMS (Battery Management System) which is a safety system tracking voltage and temperature of cells and the charging process. Logic level converters placed on board is capable of raising logic level from 3,3 V to 5 V. It’s necessary to correctly control BLDC motor and servos by PWM. FBB contains a multitude of ports dedicated to sensors listed hereunder:Temperature sensorsUltrasonic sensors measuring the height of the deck above the water levelSensor measuring speed in relation to the waterThere will be two boards placed inside at both ends of the deck.Any help with bringing this project to completion through the fabrication of the PCB would be greatly appreciated by our team. My name is Marcin, my last idea was to design a LineFollower robot. These robots move along the white route with a black line. The robot must be small, fast and agile. Professional constructions use two electric motors driving two wheels. The sensor rail is pulled out from the front. The robot's task is to overcome the route as quickly as possible. This is especially difficult during the Enhanced competition where there are additional hills, obstacles, etc. The picture shows a robot named LuckyBOT. It has two DC motors (N20) with an integrated 10: 1 gearbox. The robot also uses encoders on the motor. The wheels have been designed in 3D and the next one printed. The maximum speed of the robot on these wheels is about 4m / s. The carbon strip with sensors has been extended to several centimeters. The exact length can be adjusted.The front slot is placed on the sensor distance, free field (digital or analog) Sharp.The LuckyBot robot has a dotBot v2 twin robot. It is used in the LineFollower Drag category.A mobile robot consists of two main harmonizing parts:· electronic;· mechanical. About usPWR Racing Team started as small and unknown Student’s Society on Wroclaw University of Technology. Now it has become one of the biggest student’s project on the whole campus, also being the oldest and the most successful Formula Student team in Poland.Thanks to our University administration and partners we are able to build a new car every single year, and compete with it on the most known tracks in Europe. Every member of our team is responsible for certain part of the car - such approach helps us making progress every season. Team members get to know everything about their part, resulting in continuous development of their knowledge.Our main goal is not directly to be the fastest team on the grid. We’re always trying to be better and smarter people. Which of course results in building faster and faster cars, but that is just an extra addition.What makes our race car uniqueDuring nine years of our existence we have made eight race cars (plus one project for the first season). The newest one - RT08 - is the car, which helped us achieve the most. Being equipped with internal combustion engine resulted in competing in the most popular class of Formula Student series, but even that didn’t stopped us in winning not only individual competitions, but even entire Formula Student events (like FSAE Italy). Our car ended season being known as one of the fastest in the Acceleration category.We wouldn’t be able to achieve that without our engine (which has been brought to the heights of their capabilities by our Powertrain team), aerodynamic package (so light, that our competitors had been joking about it being made from cardboard), chassis and suspension, which was designed and made almost entirely in our team garage.During development of RT08 our team had decided, to pay more attention to electronics of the car. It ended up not only with making completely new and custom wiring harness. RT08 is equipped telemetry, which massively helped us during the whole season.After such a big success with electronics, our team decided to go even further this season. RT09 (which is currently being builded) will be equipped with wirelessly manageable telemetry (every team member will be able to monitor data from the car from any point of the world) and even more custom solutions such as CAN bus with plug-and-play support for any sort of sensors (also connected wirelessly).Everything of that wouldn’t be possible to achieve without partner such as PCBWay. Being team from Poland didn’t helped us in making such complicated and durable circuits. Every shop that we have been in touch with said that it’s impossible to burn electronic boards with such a high level of accuracy as we needed to. The maze consists of squares 18cm x 18cm. The robot must be small, fast and agile. Professional constructions use two electric motors driving four wheels. Due to little experience, the first test was made with N20 motors with a ratio of 30: 1.The robot shown in the pictures was named Miki. Very efficiently drives the maze using the flood-fill algorithm. It allows you to generate a path in a known labyrinth. This is the shortest possible path. The algorithm itself is quite complicated, but it is quick and convenient to implement in the robot.### TECHNICAL DETAILS (With project photos)A mobile robot consists of two main harmonizing parts:electronic;mechanical.The STM32F103RBT6 microcontroller from STMicroelectronics based on the ARM Cortex M3 core, equipped with 128 kB FLASH memory and 20kB RAM, was used as the basis for the construction of the electronic part. The maximum clock speed is 72MHz. It forms the basis connecting all other components, such as:SCT2026 - IR LED controller;TB6612FNG - the H driver bridge;MiniIMU module - gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer;AS5306 - magnetic encoder;24AA01 - EEPROM memory. In order to determine the exact current of the IR LEDs, a special LED driver SCT2026 from StarChips was used to communicate using the SPI bus. It has 16 input channels with a selectable constant current of 5 to 90mA. The motor controller commonly referred to as the H bridge is the Toshiba TB6612FNG system. This model has two channels with a maximum current current of 1.2A, maximum instantaneous current up to 3.2A and a voltage supplying motors up to 15V. As a gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer, a Pololu module called MinIMU-9 in version 5 was used, which communicates using the I2C interface. It contains two sensors LSM6DS33 and LIS3MD from STMicroelectronics. The robot has been equipped with AS5306A encoders of the Austrian company AMS. The maximum possible resolution is 160 steps per magnetic field transmitted in quadrature mode with an optional index. STM32Fx microcontrollers do not have EEPROM memory, so an additional memory has been used that uses the I2C bus for communication. The platform based on a PCB board, on which all necessary electronic and mechanical elements will be placed, will be responsible for the running platform. As a drive, Polbank's HPP (High-Power Carbon Brush) with a 30: 1 gearing with a rated voltage of 6V was used. Rims and tires are a ready element available in Polol's products. Magnetic encoders require very close to the dedicated magnet. For this purpose, a 72-field 32-mm magnetic ring was used for the above-mentioned integrated circuit. It was attached directly to the rim.Due to the small size of the PCB, a very small 6-mile path was used. Thanks to PCBway, it was possible to make such a small plate with 0.3mm guides. I am using cheap 28byj-48 stepper motors and micro servo. Whole frame is printed with PLA and flex. I also have to aluminium rods. For controling I am writing a C# program to make it easy to print images with it. This project will be shared as open source on instructables and my YT channel. I would like to be a part of it future so here comes the subject of my master thesis which is "Measurement equipment of Sebeeck coefficient". In my master thesis i develop a aparature which is able to measure the Sebeeck coefficient of thermoelectirc material. The Sebeeck coefficient is a atribute of material which describes how good thermoelectirc battery the tested material is. If you are able to achive a big voltage change with minimum temperature difference on the two edges of a sample - you can say that the Sebeeck coefficient is high. Question is what goal is to measure such a thing? Its simple because if device will be created the other scientists would be able to verify thier hypothesis of thermoelectirc atributes of materials and if they will be able to measure such a thing they also would be able to put it on the market! They theroelectric battery needs only the temperature change to work. For example: imagine yourself that the roof of our house is coverd by material with high Sebeeck coefficient. If there is a cold or very hot outside you can have the free electric energy beacuse of Sebeeck efect! The thing is that the PCB for such a project is not so simple to build for the student and thats why a need Your help. Acording to added photo the equipment has been devided in two parts, thermostat and measuremnt equpment. Using thermostat we are able to control the temperature on two independent channels on two edges of sample. It controls two Peltiers modules that is supplied from two current sources. The courrent source uses operational amplifier which is controlled bay voltage generated by DAC in microcontroller. The current on Peltiers module is set by DAC voltage. Chanage the polarity of Peltiers module is controled by DPDT relay. His coil is controled by digital output of MCU via transistor. If is logic "1" the transistor is open, coil of relay is supplied and it change the polarity of Peltiers module. In this way we are able to fully controll the probe temperature at both of thier sides. The difference on to edges of probe material implicates the Sebeeck effect. The second part of aparature is the measurement part. In general the circuit measures the temperature in two points and the voltage in the same two pints of material probe. Because the Sebeeck coefficient is described be following pattern:S = ΔV/ΔT So the microcontroller has to subtract the two measured temperatures and voltages. Actually the only physical value what is measured is voltage because we are using the thermocouple as a temperature sensor and it generate a voltage what is proportional to temperature. Only the microcontroller calculates measured voltage to temperature. The thing is that following voltages can be low value and quite wide range from tens of μV to tens of mV. This ΔVandΔT are sended to PC via RS232 and the app on PC sets a curve and calculates this coefficient. So achieve a reliable and precise μV measures I had to use a high resolution analog to digital converter AD7709 and the precise and high CMR instrumental aplifiers INA110 which also allows us the programable gian. I'm working on my engineering thesis - Miniature viscosity and density measurement device. The main goal is to put whole measurement system on one small board and make device handheld. Whole device in enclosure should look like electronic thermometer (maybe little bigger). To make device small and portable and to achieve low measurement noise I need to design 4-layer PCB. This will allow me to make complete measurement system on one board, including: - precision analogue front-end - powerful Cortex M4 MCU - COG LCD Display - USB input with li-po charger - ultra low noise power supply I want to fit my device on 28x100mm board with standard clearance and drill size.
