Description

XTAL Crystal Tester

A nice little circuit. You plug a XTAL in the socket and the LED lights up if good. You can also use this with an oscilloscope or frequency counter. You get two identical circuits, one thru hole and one SMD. Values just need to be close. C8 is marked 2uf but any cap sould be OK. Be careful on the transistors you choose as pinouts are different. A 2N3904 is good for the thru hole and a 2N2222 is good for the surface mount. Not all transistors have the same pinout. Use a 1n4148 diode or similar small signal not a 1N4001 as marked on the SMD layout
