(DIY) SUPER SALT DIAGNOSTIC CARTRIDGE FOR ATARI 8 BIT FAMILY
Hello,
This is a tested and working circuit board. This cartridge is tested with Atari 800XL
This is only cartridge part of diagnostic tests. some of diagnostic tests need extra hardware.
You can download some sample EPROM images from this link:
https://archive.org/download/super-salt-roms/SUPER_SALT_ROMS.zip
This cartridge can also be used as generic 8KB/16KB Atari 8-Bit Computer Cartridge.
You can find many different ROM files from internet by searching "Atari 800XL ROMS" or "Atari 800XL tosec"
You should duplicate the ROM file reaching to the size of EPROM capacity with using a "HEX Editor" program. EPROM must be fully filled.
In order to protect your electronical devices, always turn off your ATARI before inserting or removing cartridges.
Gerber files can be changed at any time. Before paying for the PCBs, be sure to update your orders!
If your programmer have capability to test IC chips, like 74LS series, then you should not forget to test them before soldering, some chips may have defect. (TL866 Minipro Programmer is able to test some of logic IC)
This PCB design is based on Joe 'Kingpin' Grand's Atari cartridge schematics. Many thanks to Joe 'Kingpin' Grand.
