TFA9894D I2S 5.6W Amplifier Breakout (Ver. A)
Hello PCBWay community, this is Dario. I am an Italian electronics engineer, with huge passion for audio and music.
I created this small breakout PCB for one of my project, the outcome was something nice and cheap, so I decided to share it!
TFA9894D is a 5.6W Class-D boosted audio amplifier with digital input (I2S/TDM) and embedded DSP.
With this breakout board you will be able to add high quality audio functionality to your project.
Supported input voltage is 3.6V-5.5V; the DCDC boost converter embedded in in the TFA9894D amplifier will increase the input voltage up to 10V, for achieving an output power of 5.6W RMS with 8Ohm load.
The breakout PCB can be connected to any microcontroller or microprocessor with I2C control and I2S/TDM audio with 3.3V level, including Raspberry Pi!
Just provide a I2S/TDM audio stream, initialize the TFA9894D setting a sequence of I2C register and enjoy your music!
There are four different variants of the board, the only difference is the I2C address for the TFA9894D amplifier, according to this table
Ver.A -> I2C address 0x34
Ver.B -> I2C address 0x35
Ver.C -> I2C address 0x36
Ver.D -> I2C address 0x37
Combining different versions of the boards you can implement all kind of configurations, from mono to quadraphonic.
Full documentation is available on public Github repository, including BOM and SMD positioning files, for automated assembly.

Please feel free to download gerber files and documentation, to order PCBs and to copy/improve it, if you like!
regards
Dario
