Signal Crypt — Community-Driven E01 / E07 / GPS Pass-Through Carrier
Signal Crypt is a compact carrier PCB for mounting and connecting compatible Ebyte E01, Ebyte E07, and GPS modules.
Although designed with CYD-based wireless builds in mind, it is a general-purpose pass-through carrier that may be used in any project with matching module dimensions, voltage requirements, connections, and pin assignments.
I originally created Signal Crypt to replace loose wiring with a cleaner, more reliable installation that would fit my existing enclosure. It also became part of a broader effort to support the hardware-building community by making compatible hardware available for others to manufacture, adapt, improve, and share.
This release contains Gerber manufacturing files only. Native EasyEDA project files are not included. The Gerbers are provided under the license selected for this PCBWay project.

How it works
Signal Crypt is primarily a pass-through interconnect. Signals are routed directly between the supported module footprints and cable connectors—for example, pin 1 connects to pin 1, pin 2 connects to pin 2, and so forth.
The board does not contain a microcontroller, firmware, authentication hardware, or software. It provides:
- Secure mounting for supported modules
- Organized one-to-one signal routing
- Consistent cable connections
- Optional power-decoupling components
- A compact layout suitable for enclosed CYD builds
- Easier assembly and troubleshooting than loose wiring
Independent design, compatibility, and legal provenance
Signal Crypt is an independently authored PCB designed for mechanical and electrical compatibility. I created the design and resulting Gerber manufacturing files in EasyEDA after examining, measuring, and continuity-testing commercially available hardware that I lawfully purchased. This process identified the dimensions, module and connector positions, pin mapping, and straightforward one-to-one connections required for compatibility.
This design was developed through reverse engineering of lawfully acquired hardware. For purposes of United States federal trade-secret law, 18 U.S.C. § 1839(6)(B) expressly provides that “improper means” does not include reverse engineering, independent derivation, or other lawful means of acquisition.
I did not obtain or use confidential information, leaked materials, an original schematic, an original PCB/CAD project, Gerber files, a bill of materials, or private documentation belonging to the manufacturer or seller of the reference hardware. No third-party firmware or source code was copied, modified, distributed, or used as a design source for this PCB.
All PCB routing and Gerber manufacturing files distributed with this project were created by me in EasyEDA. Standard component and manufacturer library footprints may have been used where appropriate. Similarities in the board outline, module placement, connector positions, and pin mapping are present to provide mechanical and electrical compatibility and perform the board’s passive one-to-one pass-through function.
No third-party branding, logo, photograph, or proprietary artwork is incorporated into the PCB or its manufacturing files. Third-party project names appearing in this listing are used solely to identify compatibility. Signal Crypt has its own name and visual identity.
Signal Crypt is an independent and unaffiliated design. It is not sponsored, endorsed, or manufactured by the maker or seller of any compatible product.
Project and firmware compatibility
Signal Crypt is a passive hardware carrier. It does not contain, include, modify, or distribute firmware.
It is intended for CYD-based builds using compatible E01, E07, and GPS module connections, including hardware configurations used with ESP32-DIV and HaleHound firmware.
Compatibility refers only to the physical and electrical interface provided by this PCB. Firmware must be obtained separately from its respective publisher and used according to any applicable license or terms. Compatibility may depend on the firmware version, selected hardware configuration, and matching pin assignments.
The ESP32-DIV and HaleHound names are used only to identify compatibility. Signal Crypt is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or officially supported by ESP32-DIV, HaleHound, or their respective developers.
Intended use and disclaimer
Signal Crypt is intended for electronics development, interoperability testing, and lawful experimentation. Users are responsible for verifying electrical compatibility and complying with applicable radio-frequency and local laws.
The design and manufacturing files are provided as-is, without any warranty. Users should independently inspect the Gerbers and verify all dimensions, connections, footprints, clearances, and fabrication settings before ordering or assembly.
