E3D Revo Heatsink for Bondtech LGX (40mm Fan)
Introduction
A 40mm aluminium heatsink designed to interface the E3D Revo hot-side with the Bondtech LGX extruder. The heatsink uses the Slice Engineering Mosquito/Copperhead mounting interface and is therefore compatible with any extruder that supports this standard.
Validation
The heatsink was designed using E3D’s OpenSink reference drawing and has been validated in use on a production 3D printer. Thermal imaging with a HIKMICRO Pocket 2 showed that the heatsink stays at or below 35°C in a 25°C ambient environment after around 1h of printing, with the E3D Revo at 220°C. This is comparable to the stock E3D Revo Micro heatsink I have on a Prusa Mini.
Manufacturing
Bead blasting followed by anodising is recommended for a high-quality finish. If anodising, specify on the order that all dimensions must remain within tolerance after finishing. Anodising can add tens of microns of material, and the critical sealing bore has a tolerance of only 0.05mm!
This is the comment I used: "Break all sharp edges 0.1–0.2mm. Critical sealing bore Ø3.01–3.06mm must be within tolerance after all finishing operations."
Recommended Cooling
I recommend the following fans for optimal performance and low noise: Delta AFB0412VHA-AF00 (12V) or AFB0405VHA-AF00 (5V).
