COREX-H7: Industrial Expandable Controller Core Board
Project Description
The COREX-H7 is a professional-grade core controller designed for scalable industrial automation and complex embedded systems. It leverages the massive processing power of the STM32H7 series MCU to handle demanding tasks while providing a flexible expansion architecture for custom daughterboards.
Key Technical Features
Massive Expandability: The board features two high-density headers (CONN_A and CONN_B). Each connector provides 24 dedicated GPIOs, allowing for a total of 48 expansion pins to interface with custom sensors, relay banks, or communication modules.
Smart RS485 Interface: Includes Dual RS485 channels (CH1 & CH2) featuring a specialized Schmitt trigger-based auto-direction switch. This hardware-level logic automatically manages the TX/RX transition, eliminating the need for software-side "Direction Pin" toggling and ensuring timing precision.
Industrial Communication: Integrated CAN Bus interface for reliable field-device communication and a dedicated LAN (Ethernet) port for high-speed networking and IoT connectivity.
Peripheral Support: Onboard I2C/PMBUS interface for power management/sensor clusters and a dedicated MCU Debug header for rapid code development.
Rugged Power Stage: Designed for industrial reliability with integrated EMI filtering, high-quality inductors, and heavy-duty power input/output terminals.
Why I Decided to Make It
I designed the COREX-H7 to be a production-ready bridge between simple development boards and expensive industrial PLCs. The combination of the H7’s high clock speed, the 48-GPIO expansion system, and the hardware-level RS485 switching makes it a versatile platform for everything from CNC controllers to complex data acquisition systems.
