Small battery powered bluetooth magnetometer.

Goal of this project is to wirelesly monitor oriantation of a weather vane. This device will be atached to the spinning part of the vane and transmit current wind direction via bluetooth.


GY-511 magnetometer breakout board will be used to determine the orientation of the vane. Data will be red by Arduino Pro Mini and transmitted using HC-06 bluetooth module. Due to unpredictable spinning of the vane, everything has to be battery powered. Smart battery saving algorithms will be used to save power and allow up to 1 week operaton on single 18650 battery. Due to compact dimensions (the board is only 54x20mm big) the device wont interfere with the vane operation. A 3D printed enclosure will be used to protect the device from the elements.
