Göktürk Rocket Team: Advancing Avionics with OpenMissile
As the Göktürk Rocket Team, we are developing an advanced avionics system called OpenMissile for participation in the Teknofest Rocket Competition. This year marks our fourth consecutive year in the competition, building upon three years of continuous innovation and improvement.
Throughout our competition journey, we have consistently upgraded our avionics systems, striving to design and manufacture higher-performance PCBs. Our avionics system serves three primary missions:
Data Acquisition & Telemetry – Collecting atmospheric data (altitude, pressure, temperature), acceleration, and positional data (GPS/IMU) during flight and transmitting it to the ground stationin real time.
Recovery System Activation – Ensuring reliable deployment of parachutes and other recovery mechanisms under predefined flight conditions (e.g., apogee detection, velocity thresholds).
Flight Safety & Redundancy – Implementing fail-safe mechanisms to maintain system integrity even in unexpected scenarios.
Our ongoing efforts focus on optimizing sensor accuracy, enhancing data transmission reliability, and reducing system weight/power consumption—key factors for competitive success. Each iteration of OpenMissile incorporates lessons from previous flights, driving us closer to a fully autonomous, competition-ready avionics suite.
