IoT Smart Door Lock System With Real Time Alerts

My name is Kishan Pratap Singh, the founder and creator behind Next Builder, where I explore the world of electronics, IoT, PCB design, CAD, and innovative engineering projects. I’ve always believed that technology becomes meaningful when it solves real-life problems and building such solutions is what excites me the most.

Over the years, I have designed custom PCBs, built smart IoT systems, created 3D-printed devices, and shared my work across platforms like YouTube, PCBWay Community, Instructables, Hackster.io, and more. I enjoy experimenting with microcontrollers, edge AI, and modern fabrication tools to bring ideas from concept to working prototypes.

Every project I make reflects my love for engineering, creativity, and learning and this Smart Door Lock System is one of my most advanced builds yet.

This project is an AI-powered IoT Smart Door Lock System with Real-Time Alerts, designed to bring modern, reliable, and intelligent access control into everyday homes. It combines DFRobot HuskyLens AI Vision, the Espressif ESP32-C6, and a custom-designed 3D-printed enclosure to create a professional, fully-featured security system.

Core Features

  • HuskyLens AI Face Recognition for instant and accurate face identification
  • Real-time Telegram notifications for every unlock
  • Multiple authorized users supported
  • Edge AI processing — no cloud required
  • ESP32-C6 for control, communication, and Wi-Fi
  • Solenoid lock driver using MOSFET control
  • Custom-designed enclosure in Fusion 360
  • Complete STL, circuit diagrams, and source code available

Build Process & Files

CAD & 3D Printing Files

I designed the entire enclosure in Autodesk Fusion 360, focusing on a clean, modern, and compact look. Included files:

  • Main Pane
  • Back.stl

The parts were designed for easy 3D printing and assembly. I recommend PCBWay’s 3D Printing service because of:

  • High precision
  • Smooth finishing
  • Multiple technologies (SLA, SLS, MJF, FDM)
  • Worldwide fast shipping

Components Used

  • DFRobot HuskyLens AI Camera
  • Espressif ESP32-C6 Development Board
  • MP1584 buck converter
  • MOSFET for solenoid lock control
  • 12V solenoid lock
  • DC Jack
  • T-7000 adhesive
  • Wires, screws, and JST connectors

All components work together to perform real-time recognition and activate the locking mechanism seamlessly.

Project Logs & Build Instructions

Face Registration

Using HuskyLens is extremely simple—switch to “Face Recognition” mode, press the learn button, and assign IDs to each authorized user.

HuskyLens Assembly

The module fits into its dedicated slot and is secured with screws. A JST connector keeps the wiring neat.

Power Input & Regulation

A 12V power supply feeds:

  • The solenoid directly
  • The MP1584 buck converter → generates stable 5V for the ESP32-C6

MOSFET & Lock Control

The MOSFET drives the solenoid lock using:

  • Gate → ESP32 GPIO
  • Drain → Solenoid negative
  • Source → GND

Telegram Bot Integration

  • A bot is created using BotFather
  • Chat ID is retrieved via getUpdates link
  • ESP32-C6 sends unlock notifications instantly

Arduino IDE Setup

  • ESP32 board package installed
  • HuskyLens library added
  • Wi-Fi credentials + Telegram Token + Chat ID inserted into code
  • Code uploaded to ESP32-C6

Final Assembly

The enclosure is secured, wires routed, modules fixed with T-7000, and the system fully closes with two screws.

Real-World Testing

Once powered:

  • ESP32-C6 connects to WiFi
  • HuskyLens recognizes a face
  • Solenoid unlocks instantly
  • Telegram sends an alert

The system performs incredibly fast and reliably, demonstrating the strength of using local processing and edge AI.
