Half-Size Micromouse

DESCRIPTION

I am a mechatronical engineer student at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. I am preparing for a Micromouse contest with my team of 3. That contest is held every year in our university. This is a robot race, where you have to build and program a small robot, which must find autonomously the fastest path in a maze as the first part of the contest. The second part is a drag race, where the fastest robot win. Formerly, we have designed a hardware which has not operated correctly. Our goal is to fix the previous device’s errors to make it even better than it was before.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

In our device, the PCB operates as the chassis of the robot as the mechanical parts like wheels and gears are also attached to it. We use an STM32 MCU to control the speed of the motors, read the accelerometer and gyroscope, and measure our distance from the walls. The robot operates from a Lipo battery.

Our PCB design is 45x55 in millimeters. The mechanical parts are 3D printed, which hold the motors and the distance measuring sensors in position on the PCB. To reduce the weight of our robot, we would like to use a 2-layer 0.8 mm thick PCB with 5/5mil minimum spacing and 0.25 mm minimum hole size. The lighter our micromouse are the easier it will be to accelerate and keep on the calculated path, so it is a crucial part of this contest.

Words to PCBWay

We are a student team, so we rely on industrial partners. I have seen PCBs from PCBWay and I was satisfied with that quality. I hope I can make my PCB professional looking and accurate enough to fit our needs to achieve good results in the competition.

Thank you so much!
