HIDROIST (Hydrogen Powered Vehicle)
We are Hidroist, a multidisciplinary student engineering team dedicated to the development of high-efficiency vehicles powered by alternative energy sources. Since our establishment in 2011, our mission has been to advance sustainable mobility through innovation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
Over the years, we have actively participated in major efficiency-focused competitions organized by TÜBİTAK and Shell Eco-Marathon. Through these events, our team has gained extensive hands-on experience in vehicle design, power electronics, embedded systems, and lightweight manufacturing. Vehicles designed and built entirely by our team have been recognized multiple times for both performance and engineering quality, reflecting our long-term, research-driven approach to real-world engineering challenges.
On the international stage, our participation in Shell Eco-Marathon competitions has enabled us to compete alongside leading teams from around the world, demonstrating our ability to meet global engineering and manufacturing standards. The knowledge and experience gained from these competitions form the foundation of our current and future projects.
Today, Hidroist is focused on developing its next-generation vehicle for the Teknofest Efficiency Challenge. Our primary objectives are to further improve energy efficiency, system reliability, and manufacturability by applying modern design methodologies and high-quality production techniques.
Our vehicle is powered by a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Hydrogen Fuel Cell, which converts hydrogen gas directly into electrical energy. The fuel cell stack delivers 48V and up to 1 kW of power using pure hydrogen, with water vapor (H₂O) as the only byproduct, making it a zero-emission energy source. Hydrogen is safely stored in metal hydride hydrogen tanks, enabling stable and controlled energy delivery. In our system architecture, the 48V 1 kW PEM fuel cell stack operates in parallel with a battery pack, ensuring continuous power availability and enhanced system reliability.
All eight electronic systems integrated into our vehicle are fully designed and developed in-house by Hidroist team members. These systems include:
Battery Management System (BMS)
BLDC Motor Driver
On-Board Charger
DC/DC Converter
Communication System
Isolation Monitoring Device
Vehicle Control Unit (VCU)
Fuel Cell Control Unit (FCCU)
The Hidroist team operates through three main departments: Electronics, Mechanics, and Sponsorship. Our members are undergraduate students studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
Each year, we redesign and optimize our vehicle systems to increase efficiency, enhance stability, and improve manufacturability. Below are examples of our in-house electronic and mechanical designs, developed entirely by our team.
In this context, we would like to request PCBWay’s support as a sponsor for the manufacturing and procurement of critical components. Your expertise in PCB production and advanced manufacturing services would directly contribute to the technical quality and success of our vehicle.
In return for your support, PCBWay’s logo and name will be prominently displayed on our vehicle and included in all digital and printed promotional materials, as well as highlighted across our social media platforms and technical presentations.
We believe that a partnership between Hidroist and PCBWay would be mutually beneficial, bringing together innovative manufacturing capabilities and forward-looking engineering.
