F1 in Schools - Team Nightmare
Our project is about designing, engineering, and racing a miniature Formula 1 car powered by a CO₂ cartridge. This is part of the F1 in Schools competition, a global STEM challenge where student teams use real engineering tools to create cars that combine aerodynamics, innovation, and speed.
We chose this project because it gave us the chance to apply our passion for aerospace and automotive engineering in a competitive, hands-on way. It’s not just about building the fastest car—it’s about learning advanced design software, testing ideas with CFD simulations, and engineering within strict regulations.
How It Works:
- The car is designed in CAD software and optimized through CFD simulations.
- It’s manufactured precisely to ensure aerodynamic efficiency and minimum friction.
- During a race, a CO₂ cartridge is punctured, propelling the car forward.
- The car runs on a 20-metre track, guided by a tether line for stability.
At the Nationals, our car was among the fastest in the country, covering the 20-metre track in just 1.13 seconds!

PCBWay’s support would empower us to engineer one of the fastest and most innovative F1 in Schools cars. In return, we will proudly promote PCBWay to over 5,000 students through our events, presentations, and outreach—showcasing PCBWay as a leader in precision manufacturing and electronics for the next generation of engineers. We’re excited about the opportunity to collaborate with PCBWay and inspire students while pushing the limits of STEM innovation.
