Blackwing F1 in schools

We are Blackwing, a rookie team from Delhi Private School, Dubai, competing in F1 in Schools. Our team is made up of six hardworking students who are passionate about engineering, innovation, and teamwork. Our mission is to revolutionise school F1 racing through creativity, collaboration, and dedication. We aim to inspire more young people to love STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and show what the next generation can achieve. For us, F1 in Schools is not just about racing mini cars; it’s about learning real-world skills like managing budgets, finding sponsors, marketing our brand, and designing smart solutions. It connects the exciting world of motorsport to real business and engineering, helping us learn and grow every day.

Our journey has been full of learning, building, and teamwork. We designed our car, Raven, using Fusion 360 and TopSolid, and tested it with Ansys Discovery and SimScale through CFD simulations. We carefully chose lightweight, strong materials like Polyurethane and PA12 to keep Raven stable and aerodynamic. To manage our work, we used Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Discord to organise tasks, track deadlines, and communicate better. Every team member had clear responsibilities, and by working together, we became stronger and more efficient.

Sustainability is a major priority for us at Blackwing. We strongly support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) and made sure to include them in our project. We used recycled PET filament for prototyping, saved energy by using low-power LED lighting for our pit display, and followed eco-friendly practices wherever possible. We also used public transport for meetings and spread climate change awareness through our social media. Our goal is to show that innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand, and that young teams like us can lead the way towards a better, greener future.

Our car design is built for top performance by focusing on aerodynamics and stability. We reduced inertia by keeping Raven’s weight low at 60.2 grams and improved control by carefully aligning the centre of mass with the thrust. We tackled problems like the Magnus effect by designing special wheel covers that reduce air turbulence. Raven features a simple nose cone, minimal frontal surface area, curved sidepods, and curved rearpods to manage airflow and reduce drag. With clean aerodynamics, precision design, and our spirit of innovation, we at Team Blackwing are ready to race towards success and soar even higher.
