AISJ Robot Dog PCB Project
Mechatronics Club – American International School of Jeddah (AISJ)
Founded in 2025, the Mechatronics Club at AISJ is composed of passionate high school students who are dedicated to exploring robotics, electronics, and 3D design. Our mission is to provide hands-on experience in engineering and inspire creativity and innovation among students in Jeddah. The club focuses on designing, prototyping, and building advanced robotic systems, encouraging collaboration and problem-solving across all grade levels.
One of our current projects is a 3D-Printed Cycloidal Actuator Robot Dog, a fully functional quadruped robot designed and built entirely by our students. This project is among the first of its kind in Jeddah, aiming to demonstrate advanced legged locomotion and modular robotics using custom 3D-printed cycloidal actuators. The robot includes:
Dynamic walking and legged motion, inspired by Boston Dynamics’ Spot.
Custom 3D-printed actuators and housings, reinforced with metal pins for strength and precision.
Embedded electronics and sensors, allowing autonomous balance, navigation, and obstacle detection.
Modular design, enabling the team to experiment with different actuators, electronics, and control systems.
PCB Applications:
Our robot uses custom PCBs for key functions, including:
Motor Control Circuit
Drives and coordinates the cycloidal actuators in each leg.
Handles current distribution for multiple high-torque motors.
Designed for compact integration within the robot’s 3D-printed housing.
Sensor & Processing Circuit
Integrates accelerometers, gyroscopes, and distance sensors.
Interfaces with a microcontroller to process real-time motion data.
Enables autonomous walking, balance, and obstacle avoidance.
Educational and Community Impact:
Provides hands-on experience in mechanical design, electronics, and robotics programming.
Encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership among high school students.
We plan to present the robot to elementary and middle school students to inspire younger learners, and potentially showcase it at other schools.

The robot will also feature PCBWay’s logo, highlighting your support in all presentations and events.
Timeline:
Prototype assembly and testing: by the end of next month.
Demonstration includes fully functional actuators, leg motion, and basic autonomous behavior.
Why PCBWay Support Matters:
PCBWay’s sponsorship would allow us to fabricate precise PCBs for our motor control and sensor circuits, accelerate prototyping, and improve the overall performance and reliability of our robot. Your support would not only help us achieve our technical goals but also inspire the next generation of engineers in Saudi Arabia.
We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with PCBWay and share our progress with both our school and the broader educational community.
