TBTS - Treble Bleed and Tone selector
TBTS - Treble Bleed and Tone selector
Those who play the electric guitar know this. There is little scientific about it, but rivers of ink have been written and endless discussions have been made. Is a 22 nF or 47 nF “bumble bee” better, or is a Mallory Mystard capacitor better, or an oil capacitor....?
The same goes for the treble bleed, which is a modification to keep the volume uniform from 1 to 10. But even here the combinations can be varied (note that in position 1 the treble bleed is excluded, should you not like it...).
Soldering and desoldering and testing is time-consuming and nerve-racking.
With this small circuit board, you can quickly test several combinations before choosing the final one.
Or you can use it without the screw terminals and solder directly to the volume, ground, pickup and potentiometer board and change the settings from time to time.
It is possible to use Jst connectors or solder wires to PCB.
Pay attention : terminal blocks have 2,54 mm pitch
VH = Volume Hot
SBN = Bridge /Neck from switch (used only to connect two pcbs in 2V2T connections)
JH = JACK HOT ( Please note: the jack hot is supposed to be soldered to the volume hot lug, if not it goes with VH)
PU = PICK UP HOT (If needed)
VV = Volume
TV = Tone to volume
SV = Switch to volume
GO/G2= ground out (To bridge or to another pcb in 2V2T connections)
JG= jack ground
VG = Volume ground
BG/NG = Bridge/ neck ground
SG = Switch ground
TG = Tone ground
Suggested Treble bleed:
1= no tb cap
2= 330 pf cap
3=2000 pf cap
4= 1000 pf cap
5 = 100k res
6 130k res +1200 pf
Suggested Tone:
1= 473
2 = 333
3= 222
4= orange drop
5= oil cap
or whatever else
Dim: 2,5 cm x 5,9 cm x 1 cm
It is possible to cut It in two pieces along the line in the middle
