Japanese Compatible Replacement Parts For:

For Revision 4 Shells Only.

All parts listed here are to be used together with the Neptune base components found HERE - PROJECT NEPTUNE - REV 4 . This is only if you wish to ensure your Neptune is compatible with Japanese Megadrive game cartridges.

This does not provide compatibility for Japanese Megadrive 2 boards because they use a different type of power switch.

Now that we're clear on the above points, lets look at what we need...

First you should have already chosen your build type and downloaded the corresponding parts list for all your base components. See here...

Once you are familiar with your build list you can refer back to this project again and ensure you replace the items on your list with the items below.

• Replace NEPTUNE_SHELL_TOP with the below listed NEPTUNE_SHELL_TOP_JP OR NEPTUNE_SHELL_JP_S for button assisted spring wells (SEE HERE for spring well description on my original NEPTUNE page).
• Replace NEPTUNE_CART_FLAP_1 with the below listed NEPTUNE_CART_FLAP_1_JP
• Replace NEPTUNE_CART_FLAP_2 with the below listed NEPTUNE_CART_FLAP_2_JP
• Replace NEPTUNE_CART_FLAP_CAP with the below listed NEPTUNE_CART_FLAP_CAP_JP

I'm always happy to here comments and ideas. And who knows what else we could do with this project.

• The reason for listing the Japanese components as a separate project is because the original Sega Neptune prototype was a western design by Sega of America. Since people wish to re-create their own replica as accurately as possible, I felt it important that all base components should have the original western game cartridge slot.
• Anyone wishing for full compatibility with Japanese Megadrive cartridges must understand the cartridge slot is a different shape and therefore will not look entirely accurate to the original prototype.
• All regions of 32X cartridges are the same shape. The only reason Japanese Megadrives and Super 32X's have a larger slot is to allow for their unique Megadrive Cartridge shape.
• The slot I have modelled is based on the Japanese Super 32X.
• The dust flaps listed here are to be attached to your Megadrive/Genesis 2 flap bracket. Not your 32X Bracket. The size and hole placement is different and I didn't want to further complicate things by adding yet more options.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated to further improve the shell design for future revisions.
