NovaFPGA Dev Board
NovaFPGA Dev Board is a compact, open-hardware FPGA development platform designed entirely in KiCad, built for real-time digital processing, multimedia output, and embedded system prototyping. The board features a reconfigurable FPGA core, HDMI video output with properly routed TMDS differential pairs, multi-domain power management (1.0V core / 1.8V I/O / 3.3V aux) with correct power-on sequencing, GPIO expansion headers, RGB LED indicators, SPI NOR Flash for autonomous bitstream boot, and a dedicated JTAG programming interface.
The PCB uses a professional 4-layer stackup — solid GND reference plane on L2, split power planes on L3 — ensuring clean signal integrity across all high-speed interfaces. HDMI differential pairs are length-matched with controlled 100Ω impedance. Decoupling capacitors are placed within 0.5mm of every FPGA supply pin. The design is fully DRC-clean with zero unconnected nets.
Every component carries MPN annotations for one-click PCBWay assembly ordering. KiCad 10's enhanced interactive router, net inspector, and PCBWay plugin were used throughout the design-to-fabrication workflow.
The repository ships fully open-source: KiCad schematics, PCB layout, Gerber files, BOM, Verilog RTL modules (HDMI encoder, UART core, clock divider), simulation testbenches, and FPGA constraint files — giving students, engineers, and researchers a complete reference platform with zero proprietary dependencies.
Applications: HDMI display controllers, DSP algorithms, UART/SPI/I2C protocol engines, hardware acceleration, real-time embedded controllers, and RTL design learning.
