Bluetooth 6.0 complaint nRF54 based PCB
This is a PCB with Nordic Semiconductor SoC nRF54L15. The SoC was just launched last December. When I decided to make a PCB for this even the Autodesk 360 library was not available. Hence, I created one myself and created the schematic and board layout for the same.
The main project is about creating an ultra-low power design that can operate Bluetooth in uA current range. The test and comparison shows that nRF54 devices prove to be low power than it's predecessors such as nRF52840 series of devices. Also, nRF54 will support Bluetooth 6.0 that has channel sounding and estimation for total travel time of a Bluetooth signal to estimate a distance between the devices.
Channel sounding uses phase shifts of transmitted and received signal over different Bluetooth channel frequencies. This will help estimate and overcome problems faced by previous techniques such as AoA and AoD methods. Bluetooth 6.0 also adds more security related features to overcome problems faced by users in terms of man in the middle attacks, etc.
I have a 10 pin 2.17 mm JTAG connector for programming the board using external debugger. The board has onboard power regulator for 3.3V and it also has antenna feed and matching network in total. The device takes arround 3x3 cms in a tiny form factor design. I plan to reduce the size of this board even further after testing first prototypes.
