The Battery Management System (BMS) is built around the TI BQ7791514, configured for an 8-cell series (8S) LiFePO₄ battery pack. It supports a maximum continuous discharge current of 100 A, using a 0.5 mΩ sense resistor for accurate current monitoring and protection. The system is configured with external passive balancing to maintain cell voltage uniformity and extend battery life. Voltage protection thresholds are set to match LiFePO₄ chemistry, with undervoltage at 2.5 V and overvoltage at 3.65 V per cell. It includes configurable over-discharge current protection at 100 A and fast-response short-circuit protection. For thermal safety, the design incorporates charging temperature limits from 0 °C to 50 °C, and discharging temperature limits from –10 °C to 65 °C, using external thermistors for sensing. The BMS ensures comprehensive protection, including overvoltage (OV), undervoltage (UV), overcurrent discharge (OCD), short-circuit (SCD), overcharge current, cell balancing, and temperature protections, making it suitable for high-current, robust energy storage applications.
