What is FR-4?
FR-4 is a grade for flame-retardant fiberglass reinforced epoxy material. Therefore, FR-4 PCB offers higher level of heat resistance than standard PCB. The FR-4 board is divided into Three classification, determined by the number of copper trace layers:
1. Single layer PCB
2. Two layer PCB
3. Multilayer PCB
High TG PCB Specifications
The “Tg” means the glass transition temperature of PCB, it indicates the point at which the PCB material will begin to transition (check this post).If the operating temperature exceeds the specified Tg value, the circuit board will begin to change from a solid state to a liquid state, which may have an adverse effect on its function.
The standard PCB is made of a material with a TG value of 130°C -140°C. High Tg PCB with a value of 170°C -180°C
