BME Formula Racing Team - Formula Student Team from Hungary

BME Formula Racing Team is a team of university students who design and build single seater, formula style race cars and participate in Formula Student, an international constructor competition series for students. This complex project, which includes designing, manufacturing, testing and racing a race car, as well as the management of a team, helps students put theory into practice in a competitive environment and develop a wide range of technical and problem-solving skills through direct experience.

We would like to achieve better results year by year competing in the high-level international field of Formula Student.

OUR STORY

The team was founded in 2007 at TU Budapest with the purpose of participating in the international Formula Student series. We are proud to be the pioneers of Hungary’s FS teams. We do our activities within the legal frames of the Formula University Public Benefit Organization (since 2008).

The work of the team involves the design, procurement, manufacturing and building of the race car, as well as solving logistical, economical, and managerial issues. At the beginning, BME FRT made cars powered by gasoline, but since 2011 we have been the first and only team in Hungary to race in the more environmentally friendly electric category. In 2018 we constructed the first self- driving race car in Hungary as well.

OUR RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2022, we take part in 3 Formula Student races, and had a successful season, finishing third on the podium in the electric category at Formula Student Germany. We also competed in the driverless category in 2 of our races, showing a high level of improvement compared to last year.

OUR GOALS WITH PCBWAY

With PCBWay we are looking for professional high quality multilayer_ PCB manufacturing. We are hoping to manufacture our first 6 Layer PCB and also we would like to add flexible PCBs to our projects, so we can integrate our electronics even better into our race car.
