Description
RetroBrew SBC-188 version 3.1 (80C188 single board computer)
The RetroBrew Computers group kicked around the idea of a computer based on the Intel 80C188 chip, a chip far more capable than the 8088. The result was the successful SBC-188, versions 1 & 2. Limitation to 100mm x 160mm ECB form factor kept memory at 512Kb. The revision 3 board now has 1Mb (640K for DOS) and an IDE connection through an 82C55 interface. All of this is supported by the BIOS. Major component requirements listed above. The board is now updated from version 3.1 to version 3.2 by addition of some convenience jumpers.
More photos and the complete Bill of Materials is at the RetroBrew Computers wiki.
