The Data Logger is a 4-layer PCB-based hardware system designed to collect environmental and motion data and store it on an SD card. The system is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1 microcontroller module, which handles sensor communication and data management.
Environmental sensing is performed using the BME280 sensor, which measures temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Motion data is captured using the BMA400 accelerometer. Both sensors communicate with the microcontroller through the I2C interface, allowing the ESP32 to read data from the sensors over a shared bus.
Data collected from the sensors is written to an SD card using the SPI interface, enabling local storage of the logged measurements.
The system is powered through a USB Type-C (5 V) input, which is used to charge an external battery connected to the board through a battery connector. The battery then supplies power to the rest of the circuit, allowing the data logger to operate from battery power.
