Custom STM32H743 Flight Controller
What is the project about?
This project is a custom-designed flight controller PCB developed to serve as the brain of an autonomous aerial vehicle. It integrates high-performance sensors, a powerful microcontroller, communication interfaces, and navigation capabilities into a compact and reliable embedded system.
The goal was to design a complete flight-control platform from the ground up — starting from schematic design, component selection, PCB layout, signal integrity considerations, power management, and hardware optimization.
Unlike using a commercial flight controller, this project focuses on understanding and building the complete technology stack behind modern drones.
Why did I decide to make it?
Modern drones depend on advanced flight controllers that combine sensing, processing, and control algorithms to maintain stability and autonomy. However, most of these systems are closed designs.
I wanted to create my own flight controller to explore:
Embedded system design
PCB design and manufacturing
Sensor integration
Real-time control systems
Communication protocols
Autonomous robotics
The project represents the journey from individual electronic components to a complete intelligent system capable of controlling flight.
