12-24V AC to DC 5V Converter Module
Why Did I Decide to Make It?
Many embedded systems and microcontroller-based projects require a stable 5V DC power source, but standard power adapters are not always available. This module allows users to convert low-voltage AC (from a transformer) into 5V DC efficiently, making it ideal for IoT devices, Arduino projects, sensors, and embedded applications.
How Does It Work?
AC Input: The circuit takes a 12V–24V AC input from a step-down transformer.
Bridge Rectification: A full-wave rectifier (4× 1N4007 diodes) converts AC to pulsating DC.
Smoothing: A 2200µF capacitor removes ripples, providing a more stable DC voltage.
Voltage Regulation: The LM7805 regulator ensures a constant 5V DC output.
Power Indication: An LED with a 330Ω resistor confirms proper operation.
DC Output: The module provides a clean 5V DC output, ready to power microcontrollers or other low-power circuits.
