iub - inventlab ultracapacitor buffer module - is a Ultracapacitor/Supercapacitor Buffer Module to buffer voltages or for sporadic high-current peaks up to 40 A.
The input voltage can be in the range of 3.6 to 36 VDC. The iub has an integrated power path controller and ultracapacitor charger.
When the input voltage is higher than the ultracapacitor voltage, the output current is drawn from the input voltage.
When the input voltage falls below the ultracapacitor voltage - which is max. 12.5 V - the current will be drawn from the ultracapacitors. The capacity of iub is extendable.

Runtime in case of input voltage failure:
The runtime depends not only on the connected load, but also on the voltage the Supercapacitors are charged to, as well as on the min voltage the connected load can accept.

Safety notes:
Parts of the iub may become hot, risk of skin burn. Supercapacitors have a high power density, risk of very high danger short circuits. Always mount the iub on spacers and keep conductive parts away. The Supercapacitors may still contain danger energy, if they "look" discharged. Taking the iub carefully into operation and taking care while handling it is very important.
