Who Are We, What Are We Willing to Accomplish & Our Past Achievements

As a team of 35 interdisciplinary students who are curious about automotive and are eager to show a magnificent teamwork in order to achieve their goal of assembling a race car from scratch as well as funding the whole project by sponsorships, we established our team in 2017 with the title of “Sabancı Motorsports Technologies”. Since then, we’ve been working enthusiastically to pursuit our goal of attending to one of the most prestigious engineering competitions of the motorsport industry, Formula Student, with our self-made car. The competition consists of two distinct parts: Static Events & Dynamic Events. For the static events, each team has to create their own business plan, prepare their cost report, design their own car and present it to the attendees of the competition, which is worth of 325 points in total. On the other hand, the dynamic events part makes up to 675 points; which is calculated in accordance with the performance of the car during endurance, efficiency, autocross, skid pad and acceleration evaluations.

In order to accomplish our mission, we’ve been working fully-organized under 6 departments in total: Vehicle Dynamics, Marketing & Operations, Aerodynamics, Powertrain, Chassis and Electronics.

As a result of our detailed teamwork, we successfully participated in the Formula Student UK 2019 competition which was held at the Silverstone Track in England between July 17-21, as a Class 2 team. By producing our own electric Formula Student vehicle for the first time in the upcoming period; we aim to participate in the Formula Student Competition in 2021, along with the design, technical and financial analysis and business planning of our own open-wheeled racing vehicle. At the same time, this vehicle will be the first electric racing vehicle for our country to participate in this competition.
