Chitterne Gate Controller

A top quality board at an amazing price (particularly with my $5 voucher). Delivery to the UK was astonishingly quick. I selected standard postage, ordered on a Saturday and it was delivered six days later. Gerber production was very easy with the KiCAD plug-in. My circuit is designed to control a gate on a model railway which swings through 90 degrees between two posts. There is a clutch to protect the mechanism so I can't directly measure gate position. I apply a 10.7 MHz signal to the metal gate and detect this on the two metal gate posts via capacitive coupling. I can then detect the gate as it approaches the post and stop it at precisely the right point. The gate is driven by a small servo with the electronics removed and a direct connection to the motor. My circuit includes a back EMF measuring system to all smooth running at very low speeds. The whole thing is controlled by a Pi Pico. Probably it is ridiculously over complex, but it was fun to design and it get it to work.
