Vista Parallel Monitor - VistaPARA
VistaPARA is a custom KiCad board that parallels Honeywell VISTA-21iP hardwire zones through TLP281-4 optocouplers into an ESP32-C3 SuperMini for Home Assistant. I needed accurate silk, clean etch, and headers that fit the first time. PCBWay delivered. Silkscreen was excellent out of the bag—sharp reference designators, clear pin-1 and zone labels, no smear or missing characters. GPIO and connector callouts stayed readable under bench light and in a dim closet. That alone sped bring-up and avoided swapped channels. Trace width and copper matched the Gerbers. Power and return paths look consistent; narrow runs to the optos stayed uniform with no necking or ragged etch. Clearances around the TLP281-4s and SuperMini header field look intentional. Via plating looked solid—no pits, no lift when soldering. Fit and finish were production-ready. Outline true, soldermask registration tight, pads fully open. Solder wet out cleanly on the first pass. SuperMini header holes lined up exactly—no warping, no fighting a misdrilled row. Packaging was careful; boards arrived flat with unscratched mask. For a security-adjacent prototype, PCBWay’s silk, etch consistency, and mechanical fit made assembly uneventful in the best way. What I drew is what I got. I’ll order the next revision here.
