GRACE - 1U rear panel, 2 pieces
Excellent result. The cutouts and corner radii are accurate to the drawing, the anodised finish is consistent across both pieces, and the two non-standard requests were executed properly: the legends were laser-marked after anodising, so they are crisp and sit on the finished surface, and the ø10 masked area on both faces around the earth-stud hole was done correctly, giving clean bare metal for a proper bonding connection. Those are the details that usually get missed, and they were not. The same caveat as on the front panel applies to the ordering process, which was slow and poorly documented on a first CNC order. The parts themselves are a different matter entirely. On quality of machining and finish I have no complaint at all. [If the form gives you one box for the order] Both 1U panels exceeded my expectations. Dimensional accuracy, corner radii and anodised finish are all excellent, and the awkward details were handled correctly: the floor-to-wall radius in the recess and counterbore was held tight enough for the knob and bezel to seat flat, the threads were chased after anodising, the legends were laser-marked after anodising rather than before, and the earth-stud area was properly masked for bonding. Getting the order through was another matter. Six days in audit, three rejections on a drawing standard that is not published anywhere, and a build time and price that both changed after audit. Management responded seriously once escalated, and the parts shipped on the date they committed to. Judge PCBWay’s CNC service on the metal and it is very good. Just budget time and money above whatever the configurator tells you.
