Looking for a Simple HDMI Video Player
I need to build a small, simple, video player device. I don't want to use Raspberry Pi or a full OS such as Linux, Windows, or macOS.
Requirements:
HDMI output is mandatory.
SD card / microSD card or other memory storage.
ON/OFF button.
No keyboard, mouse, touchscreen, or other input devices.
No speaker or external audio output needed.
RAM/CPU/GPU performance does not need to be high.
Main purpose is only video playback.
Should support common video formats such as MP4, AVI, etc.
When powered on, it should automatically:
Read the memory card.
Find the video files.
Start playing automatically.
Play all videos continuously.
Repeat from the beginning in an infinite loop.
No user interaction should be required after power-on.
HDMI should be the only output I need.
Basically, I want a compact, fast, dedicated HDMI video player, not a general-purpose computer.
My questions:
What type of MCU/SoC/decoder board should I use?
What hardware components do I need?
I'm looking for the simplest and most reliable hardware approach, preferably something that can eventually be made into a small custom PCB.
