I am trying to control a remote via the gpio pins on a raspberry pi. I don't want to have to use relays because of the space they take up and the mechanical noise. The problem is the pads of the remote aren't always connected to ground or Vcc on one side so I am wondering if it matters where the transistor is placed in the circuit as long as current is flowing in the correct direction?
